The Elements Of An Effective Training Session

The more time you spend talking and organizing, the less time there is for learning and having fun.

The following is a suggested order that could make an effective training session, joined with an explanation on what this stage in the session might mean.

  1. Introduction
You should greet everyone as they arrive and gather them together for a quick chat, this should cover what is coming up in the session, what went well for the last one, and things that might need improvement, and to gather feedback from the marchers on how they think they're going.

  2. Warm Up
This is one of the most important parts of any training session, you don't want to jump straight in and wear yourself out early, so you should use this stage of a session to warm your marchers up not just physically but mentally for them to get in the zone.

  3. Development
Now the marchers are warmed up you should use this part of a training session to instruct and teach your marchers on what they will need to learn or to improve on certain techniques.

  4. Cool Down
Much like warming up this part of a training session is also important, you can use it to make sure everyone is okay, give positive feedback of what went well in this session

  5. Evaluation/Closure
Finally, this is a brief session where you should have another chat with everyone about what went well during the session, things to look out for on the next one, and any other relevant information needed for them.
